Electric Power for Seeland Cranes

The Hamburg-Based Heavy-Goods Logistics Company Is Investing in Eco-Friendly Hybrid Drive Systems

Hamburg – 14.09.2020 – By investing in mobile hybrid drives for loader cranes, Gustav Seeland is once again demonstrating its commitment to climate protection and the environment. With an impressive power rating of 15 kilowatts, the new electro-hydraulic drive systems can be deployed flexibly with various crane traction trucks and are ideally suited for use in noise- and emission-sensitive environments. With this new investment, the company is living up to its responsibility to operate in a sustainable way—in keeping with the motto of “Think Green, Act Blue.”

The new hybrid systems will be used with three different Seeland loader canes (PK 78002-SHE with PJ 170 C, PK 92002-SHG with PJ 125 E, and PK 53002-SH). The carrier vehicles have already been modified to enable compatibility with the new technology. Thanks to installation of the required connections (e.g. for the oil and power supply), the new systems are ready to use. The mobile drive systems will be controlled via a central switch cabinet, with this unit also used to select the operating mode, i.e. motorized or electric hydraulic operation. For low-emission operation, it is necessary to connect the drive systems to the electricity grid (400 V / 50 Hz), e.g. via an on-site power distributor.

Gustav Seeland intends to use the new systems wherever there is a need for low-emission working. In electro-hydraulic mode, the drive systems are exceptionally quiet and emission-free. As such, it is especially suitable for crane operations in sensitive environments, such as residential areas or enclosed spaces.

Johann Evers, CEO of Gustav Seeland, already firmly believes that the investment was worthwhile: “The new Seeland Hybrid drive systems allows us to work even more flexibly and efficiently while simultaneously contributing to environmental and climate protection.”

Gustav Seeland plans to maintain its course in the area of sustainability. This fall, the heavy-goods logistics company will add a fully electric MC 100 RE pick-and-carry crane to its portfolio of machinery.
