Frankfurt-based temperature-controlled logistics company continues its business expansion
Frankfurt – 07.01.2021 – Right at the start of the new year, Thermologistic is getting its new warehouse in Kelsterbach at Frankfurt Airport up and running. With an area of 4,000 m2 and temperature zones ranging from 0 to 25°C, the new facility is primarily intended for the storage and transshipment of perishable goods, in particular fruit, vegetables, plants and cut flowers. Due to the large warehousing capacities with the possibility to transship up to 2,000 euro pallets a day, as well as the proximity to Frankfurt Airport, the facility will also operate as a distribution center. Additional storage space has already been rented out on a long-term basis for hospital supplies, including personal protective equipment, facemasks and clinical gloves. Three Thermologistic employees will initially be in charge of the organization and handling of goods transports. Certification in accordance with the ISO 9001:2015 and IFS Logistics standards for cold storage warehouses is to follow in the course of the year.
Operation of the large cold storage facility near Frankfurt Airport adds a new business segment to Thermologistic’s existing portfolio. “The ever growing demand for logistics services, coupled with the scarce supply of storage capacity – especially in times of a pandemic – made the decision for us to invest in this area an easy one. Expanding our business in the field of temperature-controlled logistics services will enable us to significantly boost sales and strengthen the company’s market position going forward,” says Bernd Schmied, CEO of Thermologistic. The specialist for temperature-controlled goods transport hopes this will both attract new customers and better enable it to meet existing customers’ full-service needs. The temperature-controlled logistics provider is taking a first step in this direction by acquiring a flower wholesaler that intends to distribute around 40,000 euro pallets annually at the Kelsterbach site.
With the commissioning of the new warehouse, Thermologistic is also moving into new office premises. An area of around 300 m2 will in future accommodate the company’s management. From here, Thermologistic intends to consolidate and manage its Europe-wide activities using the latest digital technology.
