Gustav Seeland receives BSK Award

Hamburg – October 14, 2018 – At this year’s ceremony of the Federal Expert Group for Heavy Haulage and Crane Work e. V. in Düsseldorf, the BSK Award has again been awarded to Gustav Seeland.

The Hamburg heavy goods logistics company receives second place for its outstanding performance in the field of assembly.

The transport, the lifting and the assembly of a total of 5 escalators for the new one were rewarded
Underground station Elbbrücken in Hamburg. In awarding the prize, the judges considered, above all, the mastering of the complex task under extremely difficult conditions by the team of Gustav Seeland.

The low-loader transport of approximately 9 meters long and 2 meters wide escalators from the manufacturer to the new
Underground station was still the easiest part of the task. Difficult, however, the introduction and assembly of each 8.4-tonne elements in the shell of the glass stop. Installation in the smallest space required exact planning of the project and the use of special equipment. To handle the order, the assembly team used trolleys, e-chain hoists, heavy duty towers, mast stamps and a mini crane. In order to avoid damage caused by the transport of the escalators, the platforms, some of which are only 3 meters wide, were laid out with steel plates.

The installation of the 5th escalator was a particular challenge for the heavy-load experts. Moving from platform to platform required the attachment of two steel girders, the use of tank rollers and a 6.5-tonne forklift truck. Only in this way could the experienced specialists from Seeland also install the 5th escalator in a confined space without interference and with a perfect fit. Thus, the opening of the new stop is no longer in order. Already on December 9, 2018, the subway station Elbbrücken to be put into operation.

With the new award, the independent jury makes it clear that Gustav Seeland GmbH is one of the top companies in the industry in Germany. The managing director Johann Evers sees in the award of the competition a confirmation for the excellent achievements of his entire team. “We are very pleased that we have again been awarded for our qualified work. This motivates our entire team to continue to give the best, “says Johann Evers, Managing Director Gustav Seeland GmbH.
