More Safety for Liquid Foods

The IBA focuses on health and sustainability in packaging solutions

Rehden – February 15, 2017 – The Rehden-based packaging specialist Intermediate Bulk Alliance (IBA) uses valves that are free of bisphenol A for inline solutions for aseptic bag-in-arca and disposable and reusable packaging. Bisphenol A (BPA) is suspected to be carcinogenic and harmful to the human genome. In France, therefore, the use of bisphenol A in food packaging has been banned, while the EU-wide limit for daily intake has been reduced by 92 percent from the previous 50 micrograms.

The pollutant-free valves are used by the IBA for the transport of liquid foods with the highest hygiene requirements. The IBA uses the valves in its custom-made and flexible packaging. In them mainly fruit concentrates, flavors, edible oils, dairy and liquid egg products are moved. The valves are manufactured in Germany and comply with the highest EU and FDA standards. They are fully steamable and can be used for aseptic multiple sampling.

IBA is currently the only supplier in Germany to use BPA-free valves in its aseptic food packaging.

“With the expansion of our business activities in the in-line packaging of bisphenol-free valves, we are seeing strong demand in the food sector. In this way, we offer our customers a product for aseptic logistics solutions with which no health risks are associated, “says Sascha Siebel, Managing Director of IBA.

The inliners with BPA valves have a capacity of 250 to 1,100 liters. They are suitable for transporting or storing smaller quantities of products and can be used worldwide. Since only thermolaminated films are used, the inliner packages are particularly resistant to damage and almost resistant to so-called flex cracking (breakage).

In contrast to its competitors, IBA focuses on customer proximity and service when expanding its inliner business. Tailor-made packaging solutions for every quantity, every need and every mode of transport, tailored to each individual customer, are in the foreground. With its on-site customer service IBA stands by its side with advice and assistance at all times.

Aseptic bags for folding and PE boxes, bag-in IBCs and disposable packaging in a sturdy grid cage complete IBA’s offer.
