Mixed Double to Berlin

New challenge for BigMove partners Gustav Seeland and Hegmann Transit

Mintraching – September 16, 2019 – A new large order keeps Gustav Seeland and Hegmann Transit busy. Two complete pedestrian bridges will be transported by the BigMove partners from Hessisch Lichtenau to Berlin and lifted there. The 40-tonne and 28-meter-long components will later connect the company buildings of a medical device manufacturer in Berlin’s Schöneberg district.

The transport of the major elements from Hessisch Lichtenau to Berlin takes place at night in two stages via the highways A7, A39, A2 and A10.  The first night the convoy starts in Hessisch Lichtenau to the truck stop Buckautal on the A2 at Ziesar, in the following night the two trucks continue their journey separately to Berlin. The 4-axle tractors and the 5-axle telesemis of both BigMove partners will be used on the approximately 400-kilometer route. The transports, with their respective overall dimensions of 35 meters, are carried by several BF3 / BF4 security vehicles, as well as by the police. At the destination in Berlin-Schöneberg, the new building connections are then lifted one after the other with the help of two 160-tonne telescopic cranes and then assembled at the level of the 3rd and 5th floors.

The planning of such heavy haulage requests experienced logisticians and put them to great challenges. Since the route leads through 5 federal states, such transports have to be coordinated with several authorities. The extreme dimensions of the transport also make accurate route planning inevitable. An advantage of the handling and approval processes is the use of identical carrier vehicles.

“Such complex transport contracts can only be accomplished through a powerful network of specialists. With BigMove AG, we offer our partners a network that guarantees thoroughly coordinated action, “says Olaf Beckedorf, CEO of BigMove AG.

The transports are expected to start in the night of 17 September. The lifting of the bridge parts should then take place on 18 September.

Press photos will be available from 17.9.2019.
